Kurt Stiefvater elected Ag United Treasurer

SIOUX FALLS, SD – Kurt Stiefvater, Salem farmer, was elected Treasurer of Agriculture United for South Dakota during the organization’s annual meeting on December 7, 2006, in Sioux Falls.

“We are excited to have Kurt serve as an officer for our organization,” said Scott VanderWal, Volga farmer and Ag United President. “He has shown great committed to serving South Dakota’s farm and ranch families, and we look forward to having him as a part of our leadership team.”

Stiefvater operates a crop and livestock operation near Salem, S.D., consisting of corn, soybeans, and commercial stock cows. Stiefvater started farming full time with his parents in 1997 after attending Mitchel Vo-Tech and obtaining a degree in Agricultural Management.

Stiefvater serves on the South Dakota Corn Growers board, is the Richland Township supervisor; officer of the McCook-Miner-Lake Cattlemen’s Association; chairman of the Farm Business Management Advisory Committee at Mitchell Vo-Tech; member of the Soybean Association; and is a member of the South Dakota Ag and Rural Leadership Class II.

He and his wife, Kathy, have three daughters, Lauren, Megan and Karlie.

During the annual meeting, VanderWal was re-elected as the organization’s President, and David Iverson, Astoria, was re-elected Secretary. Doug Van Duyn, Colton, was recently named to serve on the Ag United Board of Directors representing the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association.
