Ag United releases DVD highlighting livestock production

Agriculture United for South Dakota is pleased to announce the release of the DVD Growth. Cooperation. Community. A Story of Change.

The 20 minute program features numerous South Dakota farm families and businesses, and is designed to aid farmers and ranchers considering a new or expanded livestock facility on their farm. It is also of value to those interested in learning more about livestock production in South Dakota.

“Agriculture is a long-standing tradition in South Dakota,” said Jerry Rubendall, Mitchell farmer and South Dakota Corn Utilization Council board president featured in the program, “and this DVD highlights that although technologies have advanced and productions methods have changed from generations ago, South Dakota’s farmers and ranchers are providing the world with a safe and wholesome food supply while maintaining healthy stewardship of the land and their communities.”

Topics covered in the program include overviews of the state and country regulations livestock producers must abide by, what to expect in working with an engineering firm, and the importance of developing strong relationships with the local community. In addition, the program highlights the impact production agriculture has the economic health of South Dakota’s rural communities.

“This program will help answer many of the questions producers have as they start the process of permitting a livestock facility in South Dakota,” said Lynn Boadwine, Baltic dairy farmer featured in the program.

The DVD was made possible by support from the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council and the Midwest Dairy Association.

A copy of the DVD can be requested by calling Ag United at (605) 336-3622 or emailing info@agunited.org.
